Who We Are

THE TREASURE COAST
WATER POLO STORY

Treasure Coast Water Polo is a competitive water polo club based in Stuart, FL at Sailfish Splash Olympic Swimming Pool — with programs for men, women, and kids. We're a tight-knit group of players who take the game seriously — but not ourselves. We travel to tournaments, compete hard, and have a great time doing it.

We're good. We're not great. We're all getting older. And we wouldn't have it any other way. What we lack in youth we make up for in experience, hustle, and the kind of team chemistry that only comes from years of playing together.

Our coach David Weston also leads the water polo program at Jupiter High School — so we're always connected to the next generation of players coming up through the sport on the Treasure Coast.

Think you've got what it takes to float with us? We're always looking for competitive players who want to travel, compete, and be part of something fun.

Areas We Serve

WATER POLO FOR THE
ENTIRE TREASURE COAST

We're the only competitive water polo club between Palm Beach County and the Space Coast. Players drive to us from all over Martin County, St. Lucie County, and Indian River County — and our home pool at Sailfish Splash in Stuart is an easy trip from every one of these towns.

Stuart & Palm City
Home base. We practice at Sailfish Splash Aquatics Center, minutes from downtown Stuart and Palm City.
Jupiter & Hobe Sound
Coach David Weston leads the Jupiter High School water polo program — northern Palm Beach County players train and compete with us year-round.
Port St. Lucie (PSL)
Port Saint Lucie is one of Florida's fastest-growing cities with no water polo club of its own — PSL players, we're 25 minutes down US-1.
Fort Pierce
Fort Pierce swimmers and athletes looking to try water polo — your closest club is right here in Stuart.
Jensen Beach
Ten minutes from the pool. Jensen Beach players make up a big part of the bowl.
Vero Beach & Indian River
Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Indian River County athletes — we're the nearest USA Water Polo club, an easy ride down I-95.

Serving all of Martin County, St. Lucie County, Indian River County, and northern Palm Beach County — the whole Treasure Coast and South Florida water polo community is welcome in the bowl.

How It All Started

THE FOUNDER

Richard Taylor and the original crew

The Original Crew · 2022

Richard Taylor

Before there were jerseys, sponsors, or national tournaments — there was Richard Taylor, a love for water polo, and a vision to give his son the chance to play the sport he loved.

In the early days it was pure bootleg water polo. Richard designed and built goals out of 4-inch PVC pipe, guys jumped in and started throwing a ball around, and for a while — it was magic. Until the county showed up and threw them out for not having insurance.

Richard didn't quit. He filed the paperwork, created a 501(c)(3), got it insured, and became an official USA Water Polo club. The first official practice of Treasure Coast Water Polo was Richard and his son in the pool together in 2021.

Everything you see here started with that moment. Thank you, Richard.

"The first official practice of Treasure Coast Water Polo was Richard and his son — just the two of them — in 2021."

MEET THE COACH

Coach David Weston, Florida water polo state champion and All-American, in the pool

Coach David Weston · Still In The Water

David Weston

Coach David is a Miami native who grew up in the deep end of Florida water polo — a 1996 Florida high school state champion, 1996 MVP of Florida, and 4-time All-American who has played in pools from Miami to Jacksonville and everywhere in between.

Three decades later he's still playing and still winning — a multi-time Florida Sunshine State Games champion who competes across the South Florida water polo circuit — and now he's building the next generation of the sport on the Treasure Coast. In addition to leading Treasure Coast Water Polo, David is the head of the water polo program at Jupiter High School.

His coaching philosophy is simple: take the game seriously, not yourself. Fundamentals, fitness, and fun — in that order, and all three every practice.
